Festivals and tours, back at their own address

Fest covers festivals and tours across Russia — venues, cities, dates. Eighteen of its pages have been rebuilt from the Internet Archive and are served again from here.

The spine of it

The Prodigy, four cities, eight days

If one run of dates explains what this site is for, it is this one. The Prodigy's Russian tour opened in Novosibirsk — the site makes a point of saying so, that the first concert of the tour was not in Moscow — and worked west across the country in a little over a week.

NovosibirskLDS Sibir. The first night of the tour.
YekaterinburgKRK Uralets, 18:00.
Nizhny NovgorodNizhegorodskaya Yarmarka. Tickets went on sale last of the four.
MoscowBud Arena — listed under all three of its names.
Tour poster: The Prodigy, The Day Is My Enemy, 02/11, Novosibirsk, LDS Sibir
The opening night's poster, as the site published it: 02/11, Novosibirsk, LDS Sibir. Every date above comes from a page you can open here.

How it is organised

Festival venues, room by room

The useful part of a listings site is not the news, it is the index. Fest keeps a page for each venue and each city, so that a room accumulates its own record of who played there. Those are the pages that survived best, and they are the ones worth opening first.

Bud Arena, Moscow

Filed under all three names it has carried — Bud Arena, Ray Just Arena, Arena Moscow. The Prodigy, 9 November 2016.

Aurora Concert Hall, St Petersburg

Olga Markes and Alai Oli, 27 November 2016.

Stereo Hall, Moscow

Louna's long-awaited acoustic show, 27 October 2016.

LDS Sibir, Novosibirsk

The opening night of The Prodigy's Russian tour.

DS Olimp, Krasnodar

Leningrad, 4 October 2016.

Teleklub, Yekaterinburg

Where the 2017 announcements were still landing in December.

What it was covering last

Ten posts about the spring 2017 tour season

The feed came back with the rest of the site, and it is the most legible thing in it: ten entries, every one of them from the first three weeks of December 2016, every one announcing something for the year ahead.

Tokio Hotel's Dream Machine tour takes up seven of them — Moscow, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Ufa, posted over two days in December as each city's tickets went on sale. Disturbed's Immortalized World Tour is announced for St Petersburg on 14 March 2017 at A2 Green Concert. Then a winter festival bill for 2017, and a show in Yekaterinburg in December.

Those tour pages are not in the archive; the announcements are. What is here is the site's own text, as the Wayback Machine last found it.

Where to start

Eighteen festival pages, open again

Their text came back out of the Wayback Machine as it was found and stays in Russian, the language it was written in; each page has a new layout and an English summary. Some images did not survive, and a link to a page the archive lost is left as plain text.

The rest of the network

The events that stand next to these

Fest is the festival portal the rest of this network was building towards; the author of the Sensation site called it the project that one was a prototype for. The others are back online too. Concert, the listing they all grew out of, now lives here as a section of its own, and so does Sensation 2015, the fan site that covered the festival the year before.

Sensation 201618 June, Olimpiysky — the prototype, and the night it covered Maxidrom 201619 June, Otkritie Arena — a festival back after three years Placebo, Moscow 201626 October, Olimpiysky, on the 20 Years tour ConcertThe listings site all of these grew out of Sensation 2015Amsterdam, Dubai, Monterrey and Moscow, in three languages

Archive. Every page here was restored from snapshots taken between October 2016 and February 2017. The wording is the original site's, in Russian; the layout is new, each page has an English title and summary, and the owner's contact details, the tracking code and the ticket-sale widgets were left out. Nothing on this page is stated that those pages do not say. The events themselves have taken place and ticket sales are closed.
